a separare species, represents a melanistic form of geogrphically limited distribution, based on apomorphic characters
with ithe range of variation fround in leucurus; otherwise the two are apparently inseparable, so
conspecific treatment seems appropriate, with older name niger claiming priority.
- The SACC, has reverted to the old classification, with leucurus as a separate species suggesting
that there is insufficient published evidence to consider the two forms to be conspecific.
